Sustainability
As an island, Puerto Rico faces unique environmental challenges to manage their resources and operate efficiently, specifically when it comes to energy and waste. In recent years these challenges have grown exponentially as landfills are out of compliance and capacity, and the infrastructure does not meet energy needs. Organizations and residents must find ways to address these issues in order to maintain stability in a rapidly changing environment. The effects of natural disaster (hurricane Maria) has only increased the pressure and rate of decay.
